In 1988, when he was in his third year at Tsukumi High School, he joined the Yakult Swallows in 1st place in the draft. In his first year as a high school graduate rookie, he entered the opening bench and pitched in 24 games that year with 4 wins and 4 losses.

In 1990, the following year, he entered the rotation at the age of 19 and jumped to the stage as a pillar of the team with more than 200 innings a year.

After that, he overcame the days of agony caused by the breakdown and won the most wins in 1998. In the same year, he received the Sawamura Award, which is the highest honor as a pitcher. Announced retirement from active duty in October 2004. Currently active in various fields such as sports casters.
